"According to the president, Russia's aggressive policy remains a key factor preventing our neighbor from sovereignly determining its future," the message says.

As noted, the fate of Belarus "should be determined only by the will of the Belarusian people." 

“The Coordinating Council of Belarus is a key opposition body capable of conducting a dialogue leading to new, democratic elections,” the press service added.

It is clarified that Lithuania welcomes the decision of Switzerland to join the EU sanctions against senior officials of Belarus.

In mid-September, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko called on the peoples of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine to stop their "crazy politicians" and prevent a war from breaking out.
