Twenty-six residents of an Ehpad in North Finistère and four members of staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.

The positive residents were grouped together in a single isolated unit within the nursing home and benefit from close monitoring.

Twenty-six residents of a nursing home in North Finistère and four members of staff have tested positive for Covid-19 and placed in solitary confinement, the management of the Saint-Michel de Plougourvest Residence announced on Monday.

"After the discovery of two cases of symptomatic patients positive for Covid-19 this Friday, October 16, a group screening of all residents and staff members took place on Saturday," explains the nursing home in a statement.

270 people tested

"Of the 270 tests carried out, 30 came back positive," the statement added, adding that the four staff members concerned benefited from a 7-day work stoppage.

Of the 270 people tested, 140 are residents and 130 are staff and trainees.

The positive residents were grouped together in a single isolated unit within the nursing home.

"They don't show signs of fever or whatever"

"They benefit from close surveillance but for the moment they do not show signs of fever or other," Celine Aubry, director of the structure, told AFP, which banned external visits for a period of 15 days.

"We were able to contact all the families to inform them of all this and organize the best possible way to maintain ties and the psychological support that goes with it," said Céline Aubry.
