Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, announces on Europe 1 several ongoing police operations and reinforced controls for 51 associations, after the conflict in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

Samuel Paty, professor of History and Geography, was assassinated for showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in class.

INTERVIEW

Sunday evening, at the end of a Defense Council chaired by Emmanuel Macron, several measures were announced by the Head of State.

The objective: to strike hard and reassure teachers after the assassination of Samuel Paty, professor of History-Geography, killed for showing caricatures of Mohammed on Friday in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

As a first step, security around schools will be reinforced by the start of the November school year.

The government also intends to go further with measures "against structures, associations or people close to radicalized circles".

Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, is the guest of Europe 1 to detail this action plan.

"Police operations are taking place and will take place, and concern dozens of individuals," announces the Minister of the Interior.

"About fifty associative structures will see a certain number of visits from state services all week long. Several of them, at my suggestion, will be dissolved in the Council of Ministers"
