At the Charlie Hebdo trial, a tribute to the beheaded professor

The trial of the January 2015 attacks resumed this Monday morning before the special assize court in Paris.
And at the start of the hearing, a tribute was paid to Samuel Paty, this teacher beheaded Friday night for showing his students caricatures of Mohammed that appeared in Charlie Hebdo.
This is, after the attack near the former premises of the newspaper that occurred 3 weeks ago, the second attack since the opening of the trial.

Unlike the attack near the premises of Charlie Hebdo, this time, the Special Assize Court of Paris evokes what happened.
From the start of the hearing, President Régis de Jorna takes the floor.
He wishes "
to express the emotion
of the court following the assassination
" of Samuel Paty, a teacher "who
died simply because he transmitted to his students what freedom of thought and freedom of expression represented
", continues the magistrate.
Several lawyers join this tribute.
On the defense side, Me Chevais asks to “
unite
” for a minute to think of Samuel Paty, “
a cowardly and odiously beheaded professor because he taught freedom of expression
”.
On the bench of civil parties, Me Maktouf also calls for the defense "of
these foundations of our Republic and our democracy
".
Then Charlie Hebdo's lawyer, Me Malka comes forward and tells the context in which the weekly published his cartoons.
This was following the 2012 release in the United States of a film recounting the life of Muhammad which had led to protests in several countries around the world, and deaths.
In his strong voice, the lawyer said: “
We were right to show these cartoons.
Samuel Paty was right to talk about it
”.
