When the vaccine coordinator hears people talk about planning to go on holiday abroad after they have been vaccinated, he interprets it as wanting to be vaccinated to feel safe when traveling.

But it may take until the second half of the year before the average person gets access to vaccines, he says:

- We are negotiating via the EU about access with vaccines next year.

As it looks now, we may get a vaccine to Sweden during the first half of the year and if we are lucky, we will then have the priority groups during the spring and summer.

Maybe three million people can get vaccinated.

Then it may be relevant for other groups during the second half of next year.

There is mistrust

Some are skeptical of a corona vaccine.

According to a survey by DN / Ipsos, every third person says that they will probably not or certainly will not be vaccinated.

Richard Bergström believes that will change.

- We know that this virus changes quite a bit and it looks very promising.

I think it is good that you as an individual have your own opinion.

Then I personally think that will change.

You're tired of this pandemic.

Normal process

A belief in the process can strengthen the positive view of a vaccine, according to Richard Bergström:

- Vaccine development is very fast, yes, but it is not about the components being different.

This is because we build factories before we know that vaccines are fully developed and that vaccine tests are stopped, which is not surprising.

You are very careful.

You stop as soon as you see something strange.

For me, who has worked with vaccines and drug development for a long time, this is how it should be.
