Negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom are slipping, less than three months from a Brexit which promises to be difficult.

Boris Johnson threatened Friday, October 16, to end talks with EU negotiators.

Seventy British business groups, representing seven million jobs in the automotive, aviation, chemicals, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, technology and even financial services sectors, warn in the

Financial Times

against a hard Brexit

that would have serious consequences for jobs and investments.

These groups of professional organizations, nearly 200,000 companies and SMEs, warn that they are not ready to face new administrative formalities and new expenses related to the change of trade rules with the European Union, as they already struggle to survive the coronavirus pandemic.

They all demand that an

ambitious

cooperation agreement

be found with the European Union to remove the threat of customs tariffs and quotas penalizing investments.

A vital necessity, these companies insist, to restore confidence in the service industry which represents 80% of the UK economy.
