A teacher was beheaded this Friday in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines) and his alleged attacker was killed by the police, in the neighboring town of Eragny (Val-d'Oise).

The national anti-terrorism prosecution immediately took up an investigation, opened for "assassination in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and "criminal terrorist association".

According to information from 20 Minutes, the victim showed, during a free expression class, caricatures of Muhammad to his students.

The Islamist track

In the political class, many elected officials reacted, opting for the track of Islamist terrorism, even if at this stage of the investigation few elements have been established.

“Words are ridiculous to describe the anger following the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine attack;

so will the candles and the speeches.

We really have to wage war against the poison of radical Islam.

We must really wage war on it to finally eradicate it, ”tweeted Bruno Retailleau, patron of senators Les Républicains.

His counterpart in the Assembly, LR deputy for Ain Damien Abad declared: “We have reached the height of barbarism with this beheaded man in Conflans.

I think of his relatives and our police officers present.

The fight against Islamist terrorism is a constant struggle.

This fight will not be won by words but by deeds ”.

Emoi at the presidency of the Ile-de-France region

The president of the Île-de-France region Valérie Pécresse reacted in the evening.

“I learn that a teacher was the victim this evening of a barbaric assassination by a radicalized Islamist.

Faced with those who want to destroy us, destroy the free speech of our teachers, we must be relentless and stop looking elsewhere!

"

For Xavier Bertrand, president of the Hauts-de-France region, it is “Islamist barbarism”.

"Islamist barbarism has attacked one of the symbols of our Republic: the school", he tweeted.

“These terrorists want to silence us, to bring us to our knees.

Let them know that we will not bend: they will never forbid us to read, write, draw, think, teach.

"

"The boundless horror of jihadist fanaticism"

The majority MP Aurore Bergé also reacted on the social network.

“It is not 'a stroke of madness'.

Islamist terrorism kills.

Islamist separatism must be fought relentlessly, without ever weakening.

The penal response must be maximum, ”continued the elected Yvelines.

On the left, European Socialist Party MEP Raphaël Glucksmann also spoke on Twitter.

“A teacher shows a caricature of Charlie in class and gets beheaded in the middle of the street: the limitless horror of jihadist fanaticism.

The fight against terrorism and the fundamentalist ideology that feeds it is the business of the whole nation.

Beyond all cleavages, ”he wrote.

The rebels denounce "religious fanaticism"

The rebels also spoke.

“Ignoble crime in Conflans!

In fact the assassin takes himself for the god he claims to be.

He dirties his religion.

And he inflicts hell on all of us having to live with murderers of his kind, ”lamented the boss of rebellious France Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

His close friend Alexis Corbière, deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, tweeted: “Absolute horror… Against murderous religious fanaticism: Peace, Unity, Fraternity, Secularism, Republic for all!

Let us not let the hatred and violence of the madmen of God tear our country apart.

"

"Islamism is waging war on us"

On the side of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen declared: "a professor beheaded for presenting the Charlie Hebdo cartoons: we are, in France, at this level of unbearable barbarism.

Islamism is waging a war on us: it is by force that we must drive it out of our country.

"

MP RN Gilbert Collard, also tweeted.

“The attack is linked to the caricatures of Muhammad: we must not give up a millimeter of word, gesture, action, concession, repression to Islamic terrorism!
