- We have received calls that a suspected dangerous object in Umeå and have made the assessment that an area should be cordoned off, says Stefan Andersson, RLC officer at the police in Umeå.

The alarm was received at 04 o'clock on Friday.

The police's national bomb protection has been contacted and will come to Umeå during the day to handle the object.

- We do not want to go into what type of object it is.

Investigation measures are still ongoing, says Stefan Andersson.

The police have blocked off the parking lot where the Willys, Jula and XXL stores are located.

According to SVT's reporter on site, a black bag is placed at the entrance to the grocery store.

Man gripen

The case is being investigated as a serious illegal threat and a person has been arrested by the police during the morning.

It is a man in his 25s, according to police spokesperson Liv Fahlén.

- We suspect that he is the one who rang the alarm, she says.

The police have been in contact with the activities concerned but do not want to say more exactly where the object is because more interrogations are to be held.

15 employees are affected

The management of the Willys grocery store was contacted by police during the morning.

The store could not open as usual and is closed until further notice.

Christmas and XXL are also closed.

- The store management has called around to the staff.

There are usually 10-15 employees who open in the morning, says Johanna Eurén, press communicator.

A black bag is located outside the store.

What do you think about it?

- We are waiting to comment on it.

Our employees on site will continue to have contact with the police, says Johanna Eurén.
