Over the past day, 15,150 new cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Thus, the daily record for the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has been updated.

The day before, the same indicator was 13 754, and the previous peak was recorded on October 14 (14 231).

Since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, the diagnosis was confirmed in 1,369,313 people, of which 1,056,582 patients (77.16%) recovered, including 8485 in the last day.

23,723 people (1.73%) died of complications that developed against the background of coronavirus infection and concomitant diseases.

232 deaths were recorded per day.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, almost 52.8 million laboratory tests for coronavirus have been performed in the country, including 502 thousand in the last day.

About 293 thousand people remain under medical supervision.

More than 200 new cases of the disease were recorded in Moscow (5049), St. Petersburg (647), Moscow (448), Rostov (285), Nizhny Novgorod (285), Voronezh (226) and Sverdlovsk (219) regions, as well as in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (212).

Commenting on the latest data, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin was concerned about the statistics, but added that the situation remained under control.

“We see that the epidemic is spreading very strongly ... That is why very energetic measures are being taken in order to encourage all our people to observe strict precautions,” Peskov stressed.

According to the capital's headquarters, for the first time in the fall, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 exceeded the psychological mark of five thousand (the last time such numbers were recorded on May 12).

It is reported that in the last week, there were 29.4% more cases than in the previous week.

“1,140 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized per day.

In total, over the past week, hospitalizations were 16.8% more than in the previous week.

There are 318 people on ventilators in Moscow hospitals, ”the headquarters said.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed confidence that the city will withstand the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the coming weeks.

The main thing is for the situation to stabilize, he said.

“We are not using planned medicine today.

Today, routine medical care is provided in full.

At the same time, we still have a lot of reserve capacities in hospitals, ”the mayor said in an interview with TASS.

To date, according to Sobyanin, four reserve hospitals have been created in the city, two of which are being filled, and two more will begin to fill from October 19.

At the same time, the mayor expressed the hope that they will not be needed in full.

Commenting on the recently introduced restrictions in Moscow, the mayor said that the city authorities make appropriate decisions based on the situation.

“It is important for us, extremely important by various measures to stop the growth of coronavirus infection.

Therefore, it is important for us to pause the sectors that are not related to the main production in order to survive this peak, ”the mayor said.

In his opinion, such decisions are “bad”, but the city authorities do not have to choose between “good and bad”.

“If you do nothing, tomorrow you will have to take more radical, tougher, more unpleasant measures, so we make those decisions that are adequate to the situation today,” Sobyanin explained.

Recall that earlier the Moscow Department of Transport decided to strengthen control over observance of the mask regime.

Now carriers are obliged not to let passengers into vehicles without personal protective equipment, even if the trip has already been paid for.

In addition, checks on the presence of masks and gloves on urban transport passengers will occur more frequently, and law enforcement officers will participate in them.

According to the latest data from the Department of Transport, the total percentage of masked people in the transport of the capital rose to 96%.

At the same time, the department reminded passengers of the need to wear gloves and urged them not to take off their protective equipment until the end of the trip.

Against the background of this news, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that Russia's need for masks currently reaches 9 million per day.

The department indicated that Russian enterprises currently produce 8.5-9 million masks a day, which is about half of their maximum capacity.

The ministry believes that today this indicator is sufficient "to ensure all interested parties."

We add that on the eve of the Moscow authorities announced that from October 19, as an experiment, a system of registration of workers and visitors to nightlife establishments using QR codes or SMS will be introduced.

More than 200 entertainment establishments have already received the corresponding QR codes.

In turn, the authorities of the Moscow region decided to prohibit visits to nightclubs between midnight and 08:00.

The corresponding order of the regional governor Andrei Vorobyov comes into force on October 17.

The document states that "entertainment ... includes group dances, karaoke, public performance of a piece of music and other similar events."

Remote mode for students in grades 6-11

Moscow Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova answered journalists' questions about the introduction of distance learning for schoolchildren in grades 6-11.

Recall that from October 19, students of these ages will switch to a remote learning format for two weeks to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Grades 1 through 5 will return to full-time school attendance.

According to Rakova, among students in grades 6-11, cases of infection are more common than among others.

“When studying the structure of infected children, it is striking that two-thirds are students in grades 6-11 and only 35% are students in grades 1-5,” said Rakova.

She explained that this is due to a more active social life and a large number of contacts among older students.

At the same time, the deputy mayor believes, pupils of 6-11 grades can easily be at home alone and successfully adapt to the distance learning format.

According to the deputy mayor, the decision made will significantly reduce the burden on schools.

“We are substantially, almost twice, reducing the load on schools.

We have an additional opportunity to disperse children inside buildings, to reduce the number of contacts between pupils of different classes, ”Rakova said.
