When you fly from an EU country or with an airline based in an EU country, the Flight Regulation applies.

According to it, the airline must reimburse the ticket cost for a canceled trip within seven days.

But since the corona pandemic has caused several million trips to be canceled, 100,000s of SAS passengers are still waiting for compensation.

- Actually, there are no exceptions, but it is seven days that apply.

Due to the extreme situation we are in, you may have to wait, but you should not have to wait too long, says Adam Dahlin, supervisor at the Swedish Consumer Agency's service Hello consumer.

In the first instance, the passenger must turn to the airline for compensation. But it is also possible to turn to the Enforcement Officer, and if the trip is bought with a credit card, there are opportunities to get money back through them. If the passenger and the airline do not agree that a refund should be made, it is also possible to turn to the General Complaints Board.
