Seized weapons, ammunition and religious literature: FSB prevented a terrorist attack in Volgograd

The FSB of Russia suppressed the activities of the interregional cell of the international terrorist organization Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad *.

The members of this association planned to commit a terrorist attack on the territory of Russia, the FSB Public Relations Center reported.

“The coordination of terrorist activities was carried out from the territory of Syria.

The objects of aspiration were the buildings of the authorities, places of residence of military personnel and explosive and fire hazardous enterprises, ”the department said.

According to the ministry, during the arrest, the ringleader and his accomplice tried to extract "means of terror" from a pre-equipped cache.

The attackers put up armed resistance to the FSB officers and, as a result, were neutralized.

Firearms, ammunition, chemical components and submunitions for improvised bombs, religious literature, as well as a map of Volgograd with the planned locations of the terrorist attacks marked on it, were found and seized at the scene and at the radicals' addresses.

Along with this, other members of the interregional cell were detained in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Maikop and Volgograd, in respect of whom procedural decisions are being made.

It should be noted that the video footage from the place of liquidation of the militants, published by the FSB's DSP, shows the above-mentioned map.

The Investigative Committee reported that it opened a criminal case on the fact of encroachment on the life of FSB officers after terrorism suspects opened fire on security forces.

The Investigative Committee reported that two natives of Uzbekistan, aged 23 and 27, were identified who were planning a series of terrorist attacks on the territory of Volgograd.

Earlier in October, the FSB detained a suspect who was preparing a terrorist attack in Stavropol.

In August, the Bashkiria FSB detained a resident of Neftekamsk on suspicion of preparing the arson of the local administration.

The agency believes that the attacker was planning a terrorist attack to "destabilize the activities of state authorities and incite protest activity against the current constitutional order."

At his home they found gadgets containing information on preparations for a terrorist attack, as well as videos on the manufacture of incendiary mixtures.

In late July, it became known that the FSB interfered with an organization that intended to stage a terrorist attack in Moscow.

The terrorist himself was found in a warehouse in Khimki near Moscow.

The attacker opened fire on the security forces, as a result of which he was neutralized.

When inspecting the scene of the collision, an AKS-74U assault rifle, three loaded magazines, two F-1 grenades and 1 RGD grenade were found at the militant.

Earlier that month, the FSB prevented a terrorist attack against law enforcement officials in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Department officials found four militants who resisted and were eliminated.

An assault rifle, a carbine, two pistols and ammunition were found at the scene of the shootout.

In the dwelling of the militants, they found ready-made homemade bombs, components for the manufacture of explosives, communications equipment, which, among other things, contained correspondence about the planned terrorist attack.
