Its results appear in less than 5 minutes ... Oxford scientists develop a rapid test for "Corona"

Researchers said today, Thursday, that scientists from the British University of Oxford have developed a rapid test capable of detecting the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) in less than five minutes, and they added that it can be used in tests targeting large numbers at airports and companies.

The university confirmed that it hopes to have an approved device available after six months.

In the yet-to-be published study, the researchers stated that the device is able to detect the Corona virus and distinguish it from other viruses with high accuracy.

"Our method quickly detects intact virus particles," said Professor of Physics in Oxford, Achilles Cabanidis. "This means that the test will be simple, very fast and inexpensive."

Yesterday, Wednesday, Siemens Healthiners announced the launch of a rapid test device in Europe to detect cases of Coronavirus, but warned that the industry may struggle to meet the growing demand.

And although the Oxford test will not be ready until next year, the tests could help tackle the epidemic in the coming winter.

Where experts warn that the world will need to live with the Corona virus even if a vaccine is developed.
