15 October 2020 The disappearance of Jole Santelli sends the Calabria Region to new elections just a few months after the vote of last January 26, when the center-right candidate had totaled 55.29% of the votes.

According to the statute of the Region, in fact, as stated in paragraph 6 of article 33, "new elections of the Council and of the President of the Executive Committee are held in the event of removal, permanent impediment, death, supervening incompatibility and voluntary resignation of the President" .

The vote, therefore, will be called as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the powers will pass to the vice president of the junta, the

, for the handling of current affairs.

Filippo Callipo, supported by the Pd, with 30.14% of the votes, Francesco Aiello supported by the M5s, who had totaled 7.35% of the votes, and Carlo Tansi, at the head of 3 lists, had lined up against Santelli civic, with 7.22% of the votes.
