The Netherlands legalizes euthanasia for children under 12 years old
The Dutch government has approved plans to allow euthanasia for terminally ill children, between the ages of 1 and 12.
Health Minister Hugo de Jong said on Tuesday that the new rules would prevent some children from suffering "hopelessly and unbearable".
Euthanasia is currently legal in the Netherlands for children over 12 years old, but with the mandatory consent of patients and their parents.
