Russia registers the second vaccine for the Coronavirus and announces the development of a third vaccine

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today, Wednesday, the registration of a second vaccine against the Corona virus, developed by the Russian State "Victor" Center for Virology and Biotechnology.

Russia Today quoted Putin as saying, at the start of a virtual government meeting today: “I would like to start with good news that the Victor Center in Novosibirsk today registered a second Russian anti-corona virus vaccine called EpiVac Corona.”

Putin said that Russia also intends to register a third coronavirus vaccine soon, which is being developed by the "Chumakov" center for the production of antiviral drugs of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

For her part, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova (who heads the operation room for combating the spread of Corona in Russia) confirmed that the first package of the "Victor" vaccine, which includes 60 thousand doses, will be produced in the near future.

She indicated that the Chumakov Center vaccine is currently undergoing clinical tests, which are scheduled to end before early December.

Last August, Russia became the first country to register an anti-Coronavirus vaccine and started producing it .. The first Russian vaccine against the coronavirus bears the name "Sputnik V" and was developed by the Federal Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, "Jamalia".

Russian scientists defended the vaccine, which one of Putin's daughters volunteered to take.

They emphasized that the vaccine provides immunity and has no serious side effects.

Putin's announcement came on the same day that Russia recorded more than 14,000 new infections with the Coronavirus, the highest daily increase ever.

More than 1.3 million infections have been recorded so far in Russia.
