The work of the special session of the global future councils was launched, which aims to read reality and provide solutions that would support global efforts in facing the challenges posed by the emerging Corona virus pandemic, and the resulting changes that have damaged social and economic systems around the world.

The extraordinary session organized by the UAE government, in partnership with the World Economic Forum (Davos), with the participation of 40 future councils, will be held during the period from October 12 to November 30, and includes more than 1,000 experts and specialists in 31 sectors from more than 80 countries, To contribute to the development of a joint global effort to overcome the challenges of this critical period.

It aims to formulate visions and ideas in support of the efforts made to develop effective frameworks for work systems in the post-Corona stage, where 20 to 30 experts from different specialties participate in each council to put forward ideas and come up with scenarios and visions to be inferred and presented during the next forum.

The 2020-2021 session witnesses the councils discussing a range of topics covering the dimensions of the new global situation, to present methodologies and mechanisms of action that meet the urgent requirements to achieve economic recovery and community cohesion, as well as to draw clear perceptions of the features of the post-Corona transformation process, and the role of artificial intelligence in the service of humanity. .

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils, Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, stressed that the holding of the session comes in exceptional circumstances that require uniting efforts and continuing to focus on the future more than ever before, indicating that the repercussions imposed by the pandemic have not been witnessed by the world before. Which calls for the development of a global system capable of quickly and flexibly responding to the growing needs of the current stage.

Al-Gergawi added that the global cost of the Corona crisis exceeded $ 17 trillion, in addition to its repercussions on various sectors, as he said: “International cooperation is the solution to the challenges that the world faces, and it is important to keep pace with its developments and study its dimensions to face any possible scenarios, and draw a picture of the future of the most important sectors. After the (Covid-19) crisis ».

Al-Gergawi expressed his great confidence in the participants ’ability to pave the way towards a bright future and great achievements, and said:“ We have learned from history that the cooperation of qualified personalities and their work together contributes to making a difference, and it is imperative that we all work as a single global community that strives, with what it includes of thinkers, scientists, academics and officials. Governmental and civil society organizations, to serve humanity worldwide ».

For his part, the founder and CEO of the World Economic Forum (Davos), Klaus Schwab, affirmed that the joint cooperation between the UAE government and the (Davos) Forum aims to support global efforts in facing the challenges posed by the emerging coronavirus pandemic, and that these challenges are also an opportunity to work and get out. More sustainable and innovative solutions and ideas to create a better world for everyone.

The global future councils play an important role in drawing a map and a clear vision of the future, in a way that enables future challenges to be anticipated and prepared for them. Last year's meetings witnessed the cooperation of more than 600 experts, and resulted in more than 40 reports and research papers, which reflects the specific importance of future councils as a platform. Active in providing the world with innovative solutions.

It is worth noting that the holding of the current session of the councils is in line with the continuous efforts made by the UAE government to be the first to recover on all tracks, in addition to supporting global efforts aimed at strengthening the ability of countries to face challenges and limit their impact.

During the previous period, the UAE had adopted an integrated system of work immediately after the outbreak of the pandemic, to deal with new situations and meet the needs of various sectors, as well as developing mechanisms to raise readiness and early preparation for the future in the economic, social and health fields, in order to provide members of society, citizens and residents, a safe life.
