On October 7, the comrades-in-arms pulled the last cart of corn and straw into the courtyard, and Xu Lijun's autumn harvest was officially over.

Xu Lijun, who lives in Erdaogou Village, Soudeng Station, Chuanying District, Jilin City, joined the army in 1981 and retired in 1985.

The 130 acres of corn planted this year was hit by three cross-border typhoons around September and almost all fell down, making it impossible for large agricultural machinery to enter the land for harvest.

At this juncture, Xu Lijun accidentally injured his left leg and was unable to work on the ground.

Xu Lijun wanted to ask his father and fellow villagers for help, but the area affected by the disaster was too large. In addition, there were many young and middle-aged people in the village working outside, and the whole village had a small labor force, and every family had insufficient manpower.

In a hurry, Xu Lijun, with the mentality of giving it a try, uttered an 18-second "for help" voice in the WeChat group.

After hearing the news, the comrades who were celebrating the National Day and Mid-Autumn "Double Festival" rushed from all directions to help him with the autumn harvest.

The first to see the information was Wang Haijun, a retired soldier who lives in Jilin City.

After he asked Ming's reasons, he immediately contacted Diao Liguo, Wang Haijun, Meng Zhaojun, Leng Baicheng and other retired comrades by phone, and everyone mobilized other comrades.

The news passed on to each other. In just a few hours, more than 80 comrades in arms volunteered to participate in the assistance operation.

Among them are counties and districts under Jilin City, Changchun, Shenyang, Harbin, and Shijiazhuang.

Later, as soon as everyone got together, they decided to organize a group assistance nearby.

As a result, they determined a list of 21 comrades-in-arms from the comrades who lived in Jilin City.

These 21 comrades-in-arms, who were on holiday on duty, hurriedly negotiated their shifts. Those who participated in Hexi quickly found someone to replace them. Those who were in the hospital to accompany sick relatives also thought of shifting and hurried over.

Everyone drives a private car, some rides the train to reverse the car, some rides the car to reverse the train, and even takes a taxi. They all come from different directions at their own expense.

The oldest of them was 66 years old and the youngest was 57 years old. Many of them didn't even know Xu Lijun, they just came when they heard they were comrades in arms.

21 retired veterans, 21 pairs of big hands, have been busy in the cornfield for 6 days. Many people have worn out their hands, bleeding on their faces, pierced feet, and tired and swollen arms and legs, but no one stopped what they were holding. Farm work.

At night, because of the large number of people, the veterans could not live in their homes, so the veterans had to stay at home, and eat potatoes, beans, Chinese cabbage and other farm dishes during the day.

At 10 o'clock on October 7th, Xu Lijun's 130 acres of corn were all harvested. The veterans had no time to eat lunch and said goodbye to him.

The comrades left, and Xu Lijun, who was on crutches, moved to the entrance of the village step by step, looking at the backs of the comrades who had already gone, tears could not help but tears in his eyes.

The neighbors admired it with admiration: "It's still the deep feelings of comrades in arms. They haven't seen each other for decades. If someone encounters some difficulties, they still help so hard!"
