"Ten cars have burned since July plus a stable, that's really a lot," said Maxime Coustié of the UFAP-Unsa union.

During the night from Monday to Tuesday, two cars belonging to a couple of prison guards at Borgo, in Haute-Corse, were set on fire in the courtyard of their house.

This couple belongs to the UFAP-Unsa union, and extends the list of prison guards victims of arson in Corsica since this summer.

“Management is overwhelmed by events, but they are aware that there is a real problem.

Things must change because we can no longer work like that, fear reigns among the staff, ”assures Maxime Coustié, adding that the agents had not taken up their post on Tuesday morning and that about sixty people were gathered in front of the prison to protest against this situation.

"It's more than worrying"

"It is more than worrying and we are very determined to ensure that the investigations move forward very quickly to put an end to this destruction", declared the prosecutor of the Republic of Bastia Arnaud Viornery.

All the investigations into these fires were joined and entrusted to the research section of the gendarmerie.

“Several are doing well,” he said.

"Stop talking, we want action," hammered the Force Ouvrière PACA-Corse union on its Facebook page.

In July, in addition to the vehicles set on fire, tags had also been discovered on the facade of the prison, inciting two officers by name to leave, and the director of the establishment had received a threatening letter.
