In Grozny, four militants who opened fire on security forces have been neutralized, the Rosgvardia reported.

“Unfortunately, it was not possible to avoid losses among the forces of law and order, including two officers of the OMON of the Russian Guard died.

Another National Guard was wounded, ”the department clarified the details of the incident.

The head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, instructed to prepare documents for rewarding the deceased employees.

Along with this, he stressed that the relatives and friends of the victims will be provided with comprehensive assistance and support.

As noted in the statement of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, during the conduct of operational-search activities on the territory of the Oktyabrsky District, the security agencies, together with the Rosgvardia special forces and the police, found a group of armed bandits and blocked them.

“The bandits who had settled in a private house were blocked by the forces of the operational headquarters.

At the suggestion of law enforcement officials to surrender to the authorities, the bandits opened fire from automatic weapons, ”the NAC said.

At the time of the work of the security forces to neutralize the militants in the city, a counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced, which has now been canceled.

After the special operation, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of encroachment on the lives of law enforcement officers (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that the militants liquidated in Grozny were planning terrorist attacks in Chechnya.

“They planned a series of terrorist attacks on the territory of the region.

Weapons, communications equipment, ammunition were seized from the scene of the clash, ”Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

As Kadyrov noted, terrorist groups have been put to rest in Chechnya long ago.

“The information about the fact that members of illegal armed groups arrived in the region from abroad came from law enforcement agencies in advance.

Operational measures were taken to capture them.

Local residents also helped in determining the location of the terrorists, who promptly reported suspicious persons in one of the private households, ”he added.

He said that riot militia officers were the first to arrive at the scene, and two law enforcement officers of the republic were killed.

According to him, the relatives of the victims will receive all possible assistance.

“At present, the situation in the capital of the Chechen Republic and in the entire region as a whole is stable and calm.

Restrictive measures have not been introduced.

Free movement.

All services are operating normally.

The siloviki worked as professionally, harmoniously and quietly as possible, ”he concluded.

Kadyrov also said that the militants were wanted and had recently been on the run abroad, but they later returned to Russia.

“They were in the operational base for a long time and were on the wanted list.

All recently these "shaitans" have been on the run outside of Russia, hiding in Syria and other countries.

Now, having received an order from their western sponsors, they returned and decided to carry out a series of terrorist attacks, ”the head of the republic said.

As Kadyrov noted, anyone who threatens stability in the region "will be immediately destroyed."

Note that on October 13, a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee was also held under the leadership of its head, Director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov.

He said that supporters of terrorist organizations continue to try to recruit in the North Caucasus region, using for this, among other things, social networks and instant messengers.

The NAC reported that in order to counter the spread of the ideology of terrorism among the population of the North Caucasus, systematic preventive work is being carried out.

It makes it possible to reveal the criminal nature of terrorism to the inhabitants and to prevent the involvement of people, especially young people, in terrorist activities.

Bortnikov also spoke about the effectiveness of the fight against militants.

"Since the beginning of 2019, 36 terrorist crimes have been prevented in the North Caucasus, including 19 terrorist attacks, 60 militants have been liquidated, 144 bandits and 220 accomplices have been detained, the activities of 35 conspiratorial cells have been suppressed," the NAC said after the meeting.
