The serious case was announced again: "Taiwan independence" elements infiltrated the Czech Republic to provoke Sino-European relations and tried to instigate anti-mainland personnel

[Global Times-Global Network Reporter Fan Lingzhi] Recently, politicians from the United States, the Czech Republic and other countries have visited Taiwan to make the DPP authorities impeach and celebrate. Obviously, the number of foreign anti-China politicians and "Taiwan independence" forces has gradually increased, which means that in recent years The scope of Taiwan's intelligence agencies is no longer confined to both sides of the strait.

A reporter from the Global Times recently learned that in April 2019, the national security agency cracked a Taiwan espionage case. The suspect Zheng Yuqin was developed by Taiwan’s National Security Bureau, the Military Intelligence Bureau and other intelligence agencies to conduct intelligence collection against the mainland, trying to conduct national policies in the Czech Republic. Anti-Mainland personnel and provoking diplomatic relations between the motherland and other countries.

"One day I will enter Taiwan's'National Security Conference' and I will sit in the first three rows!"

Zheng Yuqin, born in Kaohsiung in 1977, was an assistant to Zhuo Rongtai, the former chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party. He was mainly engaged in public intelligence research. He has been active in the Czech Republic for a long time since 2004. Before the incident, he was a professor at Charles University in the Czech Republic. In 2015, Zheng Yuqin initiated the establishment in the Czech Republic. China-Europe Institute of Political Economy" and self-appointed director.

During his postgraduate studies in Taiwan, he once wrote a paper on the organization and structure of the mainland's national security agencies, which attracted the attention of Taiwan's intelligence agencies.

At an orientation event of the "Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the Czech Republic" in 2004, Zheng Yuqin met Li Yunpeng, the "Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the Czech Republic".

After the exchange between the two parties, Li Yunpeng revealed that he was working for Taiwan's "National Security Bureau" and hoped that Zheng Yuqin would use his intelligence research capabilities to serve Taiwan's intelligence agencies.

Zheng Yuqin is also very excited, hoping to accumulate political capital for himself through cooperation with Taiwan's National Security Bureau.

The two hit it off immediately. Under Li Yunpeng's command, Zheng Yuqin began to collect relevant intelligence around the mainland of the motherland and handed the written information to Taiwan's "National Security Bureau."

"In Zheng Yuqin's own words, he thinks he is a native Taiwanese who eats Taiwanese rice and drinks Taiwan water." According to a police officer from the State Security Bureau of Zhangzhou City, Fujian, DPP member Zheng Yuqin has a deep-rooted consciousness of "Taiwan independence". At the same time, His career ambitions are also very big.

After being developed by Taiwan's intelligence agency, Zheng based overseas and frantically carried out intelligence collection, hoping to use his intelligence performance to prove his personal ability, and then occupy a place in Taiwan's intelligence and governance field and realize his personal political ambitions.

"He once told a good friend that one day when I return to Taiwan, I will enter Taiwan's'National Security Conference' and sit in the first three rows!"

Established an intelligence base in the Czech Republic and carried out intelligence penetration overseas

After Zheng Yuqin was developed by Taiwan's intelligence agency, he actually became an important fulcrum for Taiwan's spies to detour overseas to carry out intelligence infiltration and sabotage activities on the mainland of the motherland, and has also attracted more attention from the island's intelligence agency.

In 2008, Zheng Yuqin returned to Taiwan and was recommended by his teacher to do a program on Taiwan's "Fuxing Radio Station". During this period, a female reporter named Lu Jiajia approached him and asked if he was interested in helping to collect some current political hot spots. Zheng Yuqin immediately agreed. "Fuxing Radio is a peripheral organization of the military intelligence unit. I thought her identity was a Taiwan military intelligence officer." Zheng Yuqin's guess was correct. Lu Jiajia, who was born in 1982, was a spy in Taiwan's military intelligence bureau.

Lu Jiajia reminded Zheng Yuqin that although he lives and works in the Czech Republic, he should create more opportunities to go to the mainland and pay attention to the opinions of experts and scholars on the two sides of the strait.

Who is available?

In order to complete the task, Zheng Yuqin went to the mainland to attend academic conferences four times from 2011 to 2013.

According to a police officer from the Zhangzhou City State Security Bureau, Zheng Yuqin consciously observes the people he comes in contact with and finds experts and scholars for Taiwan spy agencies to develop. "After talking to the experts and scholars, he will consider each person’s personality The field, research content and other information will be reported to the Taiwanese espionage, and will also take the initiative to propose ideas on how to use this person."

Later, Lu Jiajia introduced a colleague named Vicky to Zheng Yuqin and told him that Vicky was his undertaker.

Like Lu Jiajia, Vicky, whose real name is Tao Zhizhen, is also an internal spy of the Taiwan Military Intelligence Bureau.

And she questioned the previous intelligence collection methods and quality, and proposed to Zheng Yuqin to obtain intelligence on the mainland through European-American relations.

At this time, Zheng Yuqin immediately proposed that if a research institute is established in the Czech Republic and its reputation is beaten out, then there will be a chance to participate in some EU meetings.

This suggestion was appreciated by Tao Zhizhen. After Zheng Yuqin returned to the Czech Republic, he relied on Charles University to establish a "China-Europe Institute of Political Economy" and named himself the director. According to his confession, "The title of director, for me, can participate. More conferences of international organizations facilitate the gathering of intelligence."

Invited to participate in the international conference Taiwan’s military intelligence agency spies took their boss to Vienna the next day

In 2017, Zheng Yuqin received an invitation from the Council for Security and Cooperation in Europe to participate in a large academic conference in Vienna. After he sent some materials obtained from the conference to Tao Zhizhen, Tao Zhizhen was very excited and took it the next day. Her boss flew to Vienna to meet Zheng Yuqin and gave him a reward of 10,000 dollars in person.

When asked why Tao Zhizhen would fly to Vienna with his boss?

Zheng Yuqin admitted: "We all know that Taiwan was basically not allowed to participate in many conferences after 1971. Many Taiwanese overseas personnel basically played side-balls. We also know that Taiwan's so-called'diplomatic personnel' wrote back. They were all copied from the local overseas Chinese newspapers, but no one pointed it out, but they (Taiwan Intelligence Agency) finally saw the light. Someone really paid for them to feed back what was reflected in the entire international organization (conference)."

According to a police officer from the National Security Bureau of Zhangzhou City, Fujian, since then, Tao Zhizhen has asked Zheng Yuqin to participate more in large-scale meetings organized by the European Union or NATO. Through these meetings, he can understand the impact of Europe and the United States on the mainland on some major issues such as defense, science and technology, and politics. Views, and asked Zheng Yuqin to establish more contacts in the process of attending the conference to facilitate the collection of intelligence.

Burning after reading, making up stories...the intelligence activities are extremely cunning

Zheng Yuqin understands the consequences of what he is doing once it is revealed. According to his confession, he voluntarily requested the use of more secure software to transmit intelligence. "We use a software that burns after reading it. In this way, we can do the tracing. There is zero evidence.” According to the police officer, Zheng Yuqin would uninstall the software that contacted Tao Zhizhen every time before entering the mainland, and install the software when he left the mainland.

The Global Times reporter also learned that Zheng Yuqin used a pseudonym to sign for espionage funds in various ways, such as returning to Taiwan to receive in person or collecting funds from Taiwan espionage agencies through a company established in the Czech Republic. Yan, collecting money in the name of the company can well cover his spy operations.

The reporter inquired about his previous articles and found that he once bluntly said, "I am from Taiwan, discussing Sino-European relations with a group of Chinese and EU scholars for many years, which is very abrupt, very contradictory, and very spy."

Hype the threat of "Chinese spies" overseas and solicit normal relations between the motherland and other countries

As a member of the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party, Zheng Yuqin has always been "in the Czech Republic and has Taiwan in his heart" and will not miss any opportunity to serve the Taiwan authorities.

In the long-term cooperation with Taiwan's intelligence agencies, Zheng has become more and more aware of what the Taiwan authorities and intelligence agencies need and want, and his methods of activities have become more and more confident.

In January 2019, he received three articles hyping the "China Threat Theory" written by a researcher from the Anti-China Foundation in the United States. For example, he won the treasure to cater to the DPP authorities to discredit the mainland and provoke China and other countries. The tricks of diplomatic relations reposted these articles among many Chinese people.

According to a police officer from the State Security Bureau of Zhangzhou City, Fujian, Zheng Yuqin also added fuel and vinegar to fabricate many fictional stories. “For example, the Chinese and overseas Chinese in the Czech Republic are Chinese spies. In order to increase the credibility of the rumors, they also tampered with the source of the news, saying that these three articles are Obtained from within the Czech government. These rumors caused some panic in the local Chinese community."

In addition, according to the national security agency, Zheng Yuqin also launched infiltrations targeting the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, overseas Chinese leaders, and official groups, with the intent to instigate rebellion personnel to plant "nails", and successively reported a number of mainland personnel to Taiwan.

After the establishment of the "China Europe Institute" in 2015, in the name of the person in charge of the institute, with the help of opportunities such as attending meetings and receiving visiting delegations, it collected sensitive information and arrogantly gathered key personnel against China.

In April 2019, Zheng Yuqin was arrested by the national security agency when he entered the mainland on suspicion of espionage. In his confession, he admitted: “No country can allow anyone to advocate the secession of the country. I understand that what I have done is harmful to the mainland. It is hurtful.” The Global Times reporter was informed that given the fact that Zheng Yuqin engaged in espionage intelligence activities was clear and of a clear nature, the national security agency transferred the case to the procuratorate for review and prosecution on suspicion of espionage to pursue Zheng Yuqin’s criminal responsibility.

The case has now entered the court proceedings.
