A Korean man in charge of Daewoo E&C dispatched to the construction site of a new port in Iraq was found dead.

When the suspicion of murder was raised, the Iraqi government formed a separate investigation committee to investigate further.

On the 9th local time, Daewoo E&C site manager A, who is participating in the port construction project, was found dead by other employees.



It was found inside a facility used by on-site staff, but Iraqi authorities assumed that Mr. A had made an extreme choice as a result of an initial investigation.



However, lawmakers, including the vice chairman of the Iraqi parliament, raised suspicion of murder.



He said that Mr. A died shortly after the government announced that the contract for the next stage of the new port project was imminent.



It is said that Mr. A's will has not been found.



In response to subsequent political suspicions, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior set up a committee to investigate Mr. A's death.



The Korean Embassy in Iraq has also dispatched a consul in charge of the case to the crime scene and requested cooperation from Iraqi investigation authorities.
