According to the Ivorian opposition, several tens of thousands of people could be present this Saturday in the Félix Houphouet Boigny stadium.
A few days ago, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the PDCI to give the main directives of this "
giga-meeting
".
The main objective of this preparatory meeting is to reassure the militants: “
We invite all our militants and all Ivorians in love with peace and justice to come out en masse to say no to the violation of the fundamental law of this country.
We want to add that all security arrangements are in place.
And that therefore fear must leave the minds of Ivorians.
"
Warning from the authorities
On the side of the authorities, we say we are not worried by this gathering.
Mamadou Touré, government spokesperson.
However, he warns people tempted by violent demonstrations.
“
Regarding this opposition demonstration, they are free to hold demonstrations by respecting the rules and respecting order.
What we cannot accept is the hate messages, it is the excesses which can be of a nature to disturb the peace of mind of other citizens going about their business.
As long as this is respected, there is no problem.
"
It is of course planned to deploy a large number of police and gendarmerie to secure this meeting.
The opposition parties call for pacifism and also promise that private security will strengthen state systems to avoid unrest.
