The Ministry of Health acknowledges that it

used old data on the incidence of Covid in Madrid

to request the declaration of the state of alarm and be able to confine the capital and eight other municipalities in the region.

The department of Salvador Illa admits that it took into account the accumulated incidence data of the virus corresponding to Sunday, October 4, a week ago, ignoring the improvement that had occurred in recent days.

Both the capital and five other confined municipalities already registered a cumulative incidence per 100,000 inhabitants of less than 500 cases on Wednesday, October 7, one of the parameters established by Health for perimeter confinements.

The recognition of Health, to questions from the Efe agency, comes after the Madrid councilor, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, denounced on Friday night that

"six of the nine municipalities [confined] are today [by Friday] below of the 500 cases

".

According to data from the Ministry of Health, Madrid already had a cumulative incidence (AI) of 465 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Wednesday.

A figure very far from the 666 recorded last Sunday, October 4.

The same is true in five of the other eight confined municipalities

.

In Alcobendas the AI is 450, when on October 4 it was 643;

in Alcorcón, of 396 and no 566;

in Móstoles it has dropped to 331 from 514 a week ago;

in Torrejón it is at 448 and not at 651 from last Sunday;

and in Leganés it is now 441 and not 619. Only three of the confined municipalities (Parla, with 679, Fuenlabrada, with 608, and Getafe, with 522) exceed the limit established by the Ministry of Health.

The sources of the Ministry of Health consulted by Efe admit that they took from "reference data on the accumulated incidence of the pandemic on day 4".

"The data were from 4 and were consolidated on October 8,"

the same sources have specified.

However, in the decree of the state of alarm published on Friday, Health introduces a third date and ensures that the data corresponds to October 7.

This recognition by the Ministry ratifies the Madrid councilor in his opinion that the decision of the central government

"had been taken for a long time

.

"

"They have looked for any way, forgetting the technical criteria, the way of dialogue," says Ruiz Escudero.

The Minister of Health has also considered this Saturday that it is

"absolutely unthinkable"

for the central government to extend the state of alarm.

"What the Government has to do is lift the state of alarm as soon as possible, allow Madrid to continue applying the basic health zones in all towns, not only in those with less than 100,000 inhabitants, and continue to monitor the situation as we were doing, "he said in statements to Onda Cero.
