On May 14, a man in his 20s was severely beaten in the Brandkärr district in Nyköping.

According to the police, the man had serious wounds on his body caused by a sharp object.

The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital and survived.

At the end of September, a 24-year-old man could be arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Today, the prosecutor requests that the detention be extended.

- I asked him to be arrested for attempted murder but he was arrested for aggravated assault, prosecutor Fredrik Beijar says.

The beaten man was shot to death

But the victim, the 20-year-old man, will not be able to testify at a possible trial.

He is no longer alive, but was shot to death on June 8 in the vicinity of the Rosvalla sports facility in Nyköping.

A maximum of eight people have been detained for involvement in the murder, but five suspects have been released.

Right now, three people, all in their 20s, are in custody on suspicion of murder.

One of the detained perpetrators has a postal address in Nyköping.

The others come from other parts of the country.

- But there remain suspicions of involvement in the murder of two more people who have been released from prison, says Fredrik Beijar.

No connection between the assault and the murder

According to the prosecutor, there is no connection between the three murder suspects and the suspect for aggravated assault.

There is also no clear motive picture in any of the cases.

However, the evidence against the suspect for aggravated assault must be strong.

- I think it looks pretty bright.

We have information that he has been to this place.

Then we will see what people want to say during the trial.

It is difficult to get people to talk, says Fredrik Beijar.

The suspect, who has previously been convicted of, among other things, minor drug offenses, denies his involvement.
