The Ministry of Health provides psychological services compatible with the measures of "Covid-19"

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection revealed its package of services in the field of mental health, within the framework of the response procedures to the "Covid-19" pandemic, explaining that it provided 5672 treatment and distance counseling sessions within six months, in addition to 2112 psychological consultations, through "Talk to Hear You".

This came in conjunction with the World Mental Health Day, on October 10, which was adopted by the World Health Organization this year, under the slogan: "Moving for mental health ... Let us invest in it."

The Ministry worked, in accordance with the precautionary measures, during the "Covid-19" pandemic, to develop an effective system and smart systems to provide high-quality and high-quality mental health services, in accordance with a policy that guarantees safety and privacy, represented by launching electronic telemedicine clinics for patients in the outpatient clinic, And the creation of a virtual pharmacy, providing guidance for psychiatric medication remotely, delivering medicines to patients ’homes, and providing virtual clinics for psychosocial rehabilitation programs for addiction patients, and other psychological departments.

During the pandemic, the Ministry continued to provide community mental health services, represented by care and home support teams for chronic cases, in order to prevent relapse, while activating the virtual visits program for inpatients.

Through the psychological counseling helpline service "Talk to Hear You", 2112 consultations have been received from the public, since the service began last April, and they were dealt with by trained psychologists to provide counseling and psychological support to those infected and suspected of the "Covid-19" virus.

On the level of psychological emergency services, multidisciplinary teams were formed, consisting of a psychiatrist, a psychologist and social worker, to provide round-the-clock service to all injured and suspected persons, subject to isolation or quarantine, in all the Ministry's facilities, in accordance with the best international standards and practices.

Mona Al-Kuwari, Director of the Specialized Care Department, affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to enhance mental health services, by activating the “Telemedicine” service in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and Al-Amal Mental Health Hospital, as part of the response to the emergence of “Covid-19”. To enable the patient to obtain psychiatric services, through smart means of communication, without the need for personal attendance.

The Director General of the Emirates Foundation for Health Services, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad Al-Serkal, highlighted the efforts made by the Ministry to provide mental health services in light of "Covid-19", through its keenness to develop methods based on remote psychiatry, and the provision of psychological counseling via the line Help and launch electronic clinics to achieve the social, psychological and professional empowerment of patients, early detection of mental illnesses, and the development of societal psychological services for children, adolescents, and senior citizens.
