Many of the unaccompanied refugee children who have been granted a temporary residence permit through the Upper Secondary School Act have had difficulty finding work during the corona pandemic.

Many of them are now threatened with deportation because the law says they must have an employment that extends at least two years forward within six months of taking the student.

On Wednesday, the message came from the government that a proposal to extend the deadline to twelve months and ease the requirements for employment will be submitted for consultation.

But the association Good forces for unaccompanied minors in Ljungby does not think that is enough.

- The government has gone in and given a lot of relief for companies and a lot of others, so you can do that here as well.

That is probably what you are doing, but it is too late, says chairman Mona Kristoffersson.
