At an airport in Madrid, Spain, 26,000 chicks were left without food and most of them died.

According to US CNN broadcasts, the Spanish police confirmed and rescued chicks in paper boxes at the cargo terminal of Barajas International Airport in Madrid on the 8th.

A total of 26,000 found chicks were born within a few days and were left in the cold without food and water for three days.

When the police arrived at the scene, 6,000 were already dead and the rest died soon, so only 3,000 survived.

Local police said "the chicks ate other chick carcasses to survive."

Animal rights groups are seeking adoption for surviving chicks.

According to police and local media, the carrier refused to take responsibility when the paper-made chicken box became wet with rain.
