The private ambulance was transporting the patient, without an emergency character, from a hospital in Perpignan to a center in Strasbourg when the driver lost control of his vehicle.

The accident occurred on the A36, near the town of Rang, in the Doubs, in the direction Besançon-Belfort at the beginning of the afternoon, while the road was wet.

The vehicle hit the central reservation before bouncing off the opposite slide and coming to a stop in the middle of the road, says our colleagues.

When help arrived, the patient was in cardio-respiratory arrest.

She died on the spot.
