China’s poverty reduction experience is worth learning from (International Forum)

The success of China’s poverty reduction is inseparable from the far-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of China and the extraordinary determination and perseverance of the Chinese people.

According to data released by the World Bank, over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, more than 800 million people have been lifted out of poverty in China, accounting for more than 70% of the global poverty reduction population during the same period.

China is resolutely winning the final battle against poverty and striding forward on the road to achieve the "two centenary" goals.

The completion of this year’s poverty alleviation task means that another 100 million poor people in China have been alleviated from poverty and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be achieved 10 years ahead of schedule. No country in the world can help in such a short period of time. So many people have been lifted out of poverty.

This is a feat in human history.

I used to live in China and then visited China many times.

I have seen with my own eyes that, on the basis of poverty eradication in many regions of China, the income level of residents has increased substantially.

The once impoverished areas are now undergoing continuous economic development, and the living conditions of the people have been significantly improved.

It is indeed amazing to see such rapid and profound changes in the economic and social fields of a big country like China.

Eliminating poverty is not easy for China.

I am convinced that the success of China's poverty reduction is inseparable from the far-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of China and the extraordinary determination and perseverance of the Chinese people.

China’s successful poverty reduction experience is worth learning, the most important of which is that China has included poverty alleviation in its national plan, forming a national consensus.

The Chinese government has drawn up a blueprint for poverty alleviation—strictly formulated standards, specific and feasible phased goals, detailed measures for advancement, evaluation and inspection of results, etc., to provide institutional guarantees for poverty reduction.

China’s tremendous economic development and successful poverty reduction policies have strengthened the confidence of the people and further promoted the process of poverty reduction.

Reform and opening up is a milestone for China's poverty reduction.

China has established special economic zones to promote rapid economic growth with exports and investment as the mainstay, and has achieved world-renowned development achievements. Some regions have taken the lead in getting rid of poverty.

In recent years, China's economy has entered a stage of high-quality development. The government has made it clear that in the face of changes in the external environment, it must unswervingly expand opening up, stabilize the industrial supply chain, and promote reform and development through opening up.

At present, China's economic and social development continues to maintain a good momentum, and poverty-stricken areas and poor population continue to decrease.

The Chinese government also focuses on improving public services and promoting the integration of urban and rural areas to ensure that every citizen has equal opportunities and enjoys the fruits of development.

I used to live and live in Zhejiang Province. The implementation of the "August 8 Strategy" has strongly promoted the leap-forward development of the local underdeveloped areas.

In addition, in the process of poverty alleviation, China adapts measures to local conditions, does not ignore any group, and truly achieves targeted poverty alleviation.

Education has played an important role in China's poverty reduction process.

Emphasizing education is a fine tradition in China. In order to improve the education level of impoverished areas, the state has continuously increased education investment in remote areas and subsidies for students in impoverished areas.

China's basic education level is among the best in the world.

The improvement of education level is conducive to promoting the development of technology and innovation, and has a very positive impact on poverty reduction.

There is no doubt that China’s actions have set an example for other countries in the world that are committed to eradicating poverty.
