Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, it has been clear that by 2020, the poverty-stricken people in rural areas will achieve the goal of alleviating poverty, withdraw all counties from poverty, and eliminate absolute poverty, and a series of major arrangements have been made.

China's poverty alleviation and development has entered a historic stage of poverty alleviation and has entered a new era of targeted poverty alleviation.

Chen Zhigang introduced China’s good practices and experience in poverty reduction in combination with images, data and specific examples. He said that China adheres to the principle of “poverty alleviation, knows the poor first” and effectively solves the problem of “who to support”; strictly “responsibility goes to people” to effectively solve the problem. The problem of who will help”; implement the policy of “prescribe the right medicine and target treatment” to effectively solve the problem of “how to help”; establish the goal orientation of “precise poverty alleviation” and effectively solve the problem of “how to retreat”.

Chen Zhigang said that through hard work, the scale of poverty in China has been greatly reduced, and the lives of the poor have continued to improve. From 2012 to 2019, the number of poor people has been reduced from 98.99 million to 5.51 million; the infrastructure and public service capacity of poverty-stricken areas have been significantly strengthened. The conditions for development have been continuously optimized; the poverty reduction system with Chinese characteristics has been established and perfected, and the policy network for stable poverty alleviation has been woven more closely.

Chen Zhigang emphasized that 2020 is the ending year of China's poverty alleviation.

In the face of the sudden new crown pneumonia epidemic, China has established an analysis and response mechanism for the impact of the epidemic, and introduced targeted policies and measures in employment, industry, finance, and finance. The impact of the epidemic has been gradually overcome, and the goal of poverty alleviation is expected to be successfully completed on schedule.
