The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Umm Al Quwain Police, Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Aran, stated that the preliminary investigations undertaken by the Traffic and Patrols Department showed that the motorcycles used by three young men in performing exhibition movements on Al Ittihad Street, last Tuesday, were without number plates .
He explained to “Emirates Today” that, according to the schedule of traffic violations and fines, three traffic violations are awaiting young people, following up that the three motorcyclists ’route has been tracked, and it was found that they were coming from the Hamriyah area towards Ras Al Khaimah, passing through Al Ittihad Street, pointing out that Security cameras on the road spotted the three drivers driving their bicycles without number plates, which exposed them to legal accountability.
Bin Aran indicated that the Traffic Department circulated pictures of motorcycles and their specifications to traffic patrols and policemen, in order to control them as soon as they drive through Umm Al Quwain.
He explained that three offenses will be applied to violating drivers, the first according to the legal article stipulating that "anyone who drives his vehicle in a way that endangers his life and the lives of others or his safety will be fined 2000 dirhams and 23 traffic points, with the vehicle being confiscated for 60 days", and the same penalty for everyone who drives A vehicle in a way that could cause damage to public or private facilities, and the third: "Anyone driving a vehicle without a number plate shall violate a fine of 3000 dirhams and 23 traffic points, and seize the vehicle for 90 days."
