Accessibility in life is the need and expectation of every disabled person.

On August 1, 2012, the "Regulations on the Construction of Barrier-Free Environments" promulgated by the State Council were formally implemented. Over the past eight years, my country's barrier-free environment construction standards have been gradually improved, and the level of barrier-free environment construction has gradually improved.

  As of 2019, all municipalities directly under the Central Government, cities under separate state planning, and provincial capitals have launched the work of creating a nationwide barrier-free construction city, and 1,737 cities and counties have systematically implemented barrier-free construction.

In the country's village (community) comprehensive service facilities, 80% of entrances and exits, 52% of service counters, and 34% of toilets have been constructed and transformed without barriers.

Various key areas are also actively taking action. Take the railway industry as an example. All passenger trains have reserved special tickets for disabled passengers. More than 3,400 EMU trains are equipped with special seats for the disabled. You can also bring a folding wheelchair and guide dog for free.

In 2020, the 12306 website opened a service for the disabled to purchase special tickets online, bringing more convenience for the disabled to participate in social life.

  The number of visually impaired people in my country has reached 17 million, and the hearing impaired population exceeds 20 million. It is also important for them to have access to text, pictures and other information without barriers.

As of 2019, more than 500 government units have completed the construction of information barrier-free public service platforms, which can provide special groups of users with large subtitles, audio and video services.

A total of 272 TV sign language columns have been set up by provincial and prefecture-level television stations, 219 special radio programs for persons with disabilities have been set up by radio stations, and 1174 Braille and Braille audiobook reading rooms have been set up in public libraries at the provincial, prefecture (city) and county levels. One.

The China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Guiding Opinions on Supporting Information Consumption for the Disabled with Vision, Hearing, and Speech", encouraging basic telecommunications companies to launch tariff discounts for specific groups of people, and guiding large Internet companies to provide vision for the Internet industry. , Hearing and speech persons with disabilities provide convenience in skills training, operation management, information sharing, etc.

  The extension of barrier-free environment construction from public facilities to disabled families is a new bright spot.

According to statistics, a total of 1,359,600 disabled families received barrier-free renovations in 2019, including 153,500 impoverished families with disabilities in rural areas.

The barrier-free renovation coverage rate of disabled families rose from 22.5% to 40.7%.

In view of the irregularities of some barrier-free facilities and the inconvenience of disabled persons, the China Disabled Persons’ Federation actively mobilizes barrier-free supervisors and social organizations for the disabled to participate in the evaluation and design to help the disabled better express their needs.
