LFI number two Adrien Quatennens demanded Wednesday a commission of inquiry to verify Mediapart's revelations on the conditions under which Engie decided on Monday to sell its Suez shares to Veolia.

"I ask that we check," said the deputy on Franceinfo.

"We are going to give ourselves the means, including independently if necessary to rebellious France, of a commission of inquiry," he explained.

On Twitter, Mr. Mélenchon has already announced that "LFI deputies are creating their own commission of inquiry and monitoring" on this affair.

“We want the truth and the punishment of the plotters,” he wrote in a second tweet.

"We need light in this matter. If the revelations of Mediapart prove to be verified, we are dealing with a state scandal", declared Mr. Quatennens.

"And if it was verified, frankly, the Benalla case next door, it's cat pee," he said.

According to Mediapart, the secretary general of the Elysee, Alexis Kohler, would have called the two representatives of the CFDT to the board of directors of Engie to ask them not to take part in the vote which gave the green light to the sale of shares that the group owns in Veolia, despite the opposition of two representatives of the State.

"Perhaps (the Minister of the Economy) Bruno Le Maire was also duped in this affair", asked Mr. Quatennens, alluding to the opposition expressed by the minister to this operation.

On Monday evening, the board of directors of Engie, the main shareholder of Suez, decided to accept the offer from Veolia, which expired at midnight, and to sell it most of its shares in its competitor Suez for 3, 4 billion euros, ignoring the opposition of the State, which owns 22% of Engie.
