Washing your hands with soap and warm water is one of the most important measures to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

This has meant an increased demand for soap - something that is noticeable inside the soap factory in Helsingborg.

- I have worked with this for many years but have not seen such an increase.

It has increased very, very much, says Jonny Freij, owner of the company Victoria Soap.

Has hired a new employee

During the year, companies have gone bankrupt, many employees have been laid off and in Helsingborg, the municipality has paid out SEK 325,000 in support of the business community due to the corona pandemic.

But for the soap factory, the pandemic has instead meant several new hires.

- This year has meant an enormous amount of growth.

We have increased our sales by 65 percent and we have hired 28 new employees, says Jonny Freij.

An increased environmental thinking

The company mainly produces solid soap and most of it is exported abroad to Asia, the USA and other countries in Europe.

Even before the pandemic, there was an increased demand for solid soap.

- It is environmental factors that do it.

It involves solid, dry products because you do not ship water and only transport substance, which appeals to many companies and consumers, says Jonny Freij.
