"The spread of infection continues to increase in all age groups and in special housing," states the County Administrative Board in Stockholm.

Similar reports come from Gävleborg County.

“The number of patients in need of care with Covid-19 has increased in the last two weeks compared to the previous four weeks.

Tendency to increased infection in elderly care ", they write.

Appears in FHM's weekly report

In Uppsala, four nursing homes have recently been diagnosed with infection.

- It is deeply worrying, says Caroline Hoffstedt (S), chair of the senior citizens' committee.

One of the homes will be completely closed to visitors while the other three affected homes will stop visits to units with a confirmed infection.

The number of cases in nursing homes has also increased in Skåne.

- Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have seen a number of developments in nursing homes and we have some impact where there is a real spread of infection.

This is a worrying trend, said infection control doctor Eva Melander in the regional council on Wednesday.

The development can also be seen in the Swedish Public Health Agency's latest weekly report.

During week 39, 51 cases were reported in nursing homes, which is 20 more than the previous week and the highest listing since the end of July.

Even though the increase is from low levels and that there are far from as many infected as in mid-April, the concern is now great in many municipalities.

Similar signals from several directions

In its weekly report, the Östergötland County Administrative Board highlights the municipality of Söderköping.

- There is a concern that infection can spread to the residents when the restraining order is removed, they write.

The county administrative boards in Västra Götaland, Västernorrland and Härjedalen have also been reached by similar signals.

- Concern about what the lifted ban on visiting nursing homes will have consequences in the municipalities' activities, writes the county administrative board in Västra Götaland.

In Skåne, there is a demand for clearer guidelines and information on how the lifted restraining order on nursing homes should be handled.

At the same time, they state that a possible increased spread of infection in connection with the opening will only be visible after a few weeks.
