On October 6, local time, the Canadian government held a state funeral for former Prime Minister John Turner in Toronto.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie attend the farewell ceremony at St. Michael's Cathedral in Toronto.

Due to the new crown epidemic, only about 170 people, including Turner’s close relatives and invited guests, entered this church with a capacity of 1,600 people and bid him a final farewell.

Turner died in Toronto on the evening of September 18 at the age of 91.

He served as prime minister for 79 days from June to September 1984, and is Canada's second-shortest prime minister in history.

When the hearse with the coffin drove away from the church, dozens of people waiting outside the church applauded.

Prior to this, in the 153 years since the founding of the Commonwealth of Canada, state funerals have been held for 12 former prime ministers, 7 former governors, 8 former cabinet ministers and 3 former members of parliament.
