A ceremony was held at the military cemetery on the 7th to bury the remains of former President Lee Teng-hui, who died in July, in an effort to democratize Taiwan.

Former President Lee Teng-hui, who was instrumental in democratization, including the first direct-voting presidential election in Taiwan, died in July at the age of 97.



On the morning of the 7th, the remains were carried from their home in Taipei City to a military cemetery in New Taipei City in a convoy led by the military police.



The graveyard also bears the remains of former President Lee, and President Tsai Ing-wen offered flowers.



Then, because former President Lee believed in Christianity, the pastor of the church worshiped, and at the end, three blank guns were fired to express his condolences, and the burial ceremony was completed.



Former Prime Minister Mori of Japan and Under Secretary of State Crack of the United States also attended the farewell ceremony held last month, but according to the Presidential Office Building, the ceremony on the 7th respected the intentions of the bereaved family, including President Cai and military personnel. The number of attendees was limited, and the event was held gracefully.
