Bloomberg News quoted a source and reported that General Manager Myung-hee Myung-hee went through the second round in which five candidates competed and entered the finals with only two finalists left.



With no official announcement yet, the WTO will make a presentation on the election of the Secretary-General in the afternoon of our time today (8th).



The candidate who made the final with Myung-hee Myung-hee is Nigeria's Okonzo Iwela.



Candidate Okonzo Iwella is from Africa and has worked at the World Bank for a long time and is highly recognized abroad, and fierce competition is expected.



With two female candidates advancing to the finals side by side, the first female secretary-general was born in the 25-year history of the WTO.



In addition, if Director Yoo is finally elected, he will become the first Korean WTO head.



Headquarters Myung-hee Myung-hee has been active in campaigning with the strength of being the incumbent Minister of Trade, and the government has also actively supported by President Moon Jae-in requesting support from the leaders of each country.



The WTO Secretariat plans to proceed with the finals consultation process from the end of this month, and the decision of which of the two finalists will become the next WTO Secretary-General will be decided at the beginning of next month.
