The number of people injured during the riots in the capital of Kyrgyzstan exceeded 900 people.

This information was provided by the local Ministry of Health.

"According to the latest data, a total of 911 people applied for medical help," TASS quoted the agency as saying.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan clarified that as a result of the riots, 218 people were hospitalized, of which seven are in intensive care.

One died from a brain injury.

At the same time, riots continue in the Kyrgyz Republic on October 7.

As it became known in the morning, the office of the largest gold mining company Kumtor was attacked by unknown persons.

The company, engaged in the development of a gold deposit in the Issyk-Kul region, is a key taxpayer in the republic.

Also, a group of people attempted to seize the office of the Kyrgyzkomur coal company.

This is reported by local media with reference to the press service of the enterprise.

Against the background of recent events, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan recommended that the republic's commercial banks temporarily suspend their activities "in order to ensure the safety of the country's financial and banking sector and the safety of assets."

Protest actions of citizens continue in the republic.

On October 7, protesters gathered in front of the Government House again.

At the same time, the opinions of the protesters were divided - some people support the candidacy of Sadyr Japarov for the post of the new head of the Cabinet, other demonstrators challenge this initiative.

At the same time, the current president of the republic, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, did not introduce a state of emergency.

The politician explained this decision by the desire not to aggravate the situation.

Commenting on the recent events in the republic, the Kyrgyz leader called them "illegal seizure of power."

“As yesterday's events show, the goal of those who went to the rally and protest action is not only to cancel the election results, but to destabilize the situation in the country.

It can be seen, ”he said.

According to Jeenbekov, there is a risk that the country "will become a victim of not only internal forces, but also external ones."

However, experts share these assessments only partially.

As the editor-in-chief of the journal Problems of National Strategy of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, Azhdar Kurtov, noted in an interview with RT, the President of Kyrgyzstan is thus trying to justify his own mistakes.

“In particular, he grossly upset the balance between the clans, which eventually led to these events.

The fact that Atambayev, who left of his own free will, was then subjected to criminal prosecution, apparently became a violation of agreements that existed within the elite.

And this could not but affect the fragile balance of power that existed in the country, ”the expert explained.

At the same time, major public events like those that are now taking place in Kyrgyzstan are inevitably accompanied by destabilization, the expert added.

“The goal of the rebels is to change power and redistribute resources, because taking up government posts in the country has always been accompanied by bringing up their relatives, fellow countrymen, distributing them the appropriate posts,” the expert said.

According to Alexander Knyazev, an expert on the Middle East and Central Asia, Doctor of Historical Sciences, a full member of the Russian Geographical Society, the current events in Kyrgyzstan are not related to external influence.

“During the first revolution of 2005, the external factor really played a big role in the face of pro-Western non-governmental organizations and parties, which then supported the elite of southern Kyrgyzstan.

In the current events, the external factor is practically absent, among the protesters there is a small component of representatives of pro-Western NGOs, but it is small and does not play an important role, "the expert explained in a commentary on RT.

A split among the opposition

We will remind, on October 4, elections to the parliament of the country Jogorku Kenesh were held in Kyrgyzstan.

According to preliminary results, four parties were able to overcome the 7% barrier.

The pro-government "Unity" and "Native Kyrgyzstan" gained 24.52% and 23.89%, respectively.

The two centrist parties “Kyrgyzstan” and “United Kyrgyzstan” were able to receive 8.73% and 7.11% of the votes.

On the evening of October 5, street actions of those dissatisfied with the election results began in the center of Bishkek.

Protesters demanded re-election, and the protests quickly escalated into riots.

The protesters began to storm the White House, which houses the presidential administration and parliament.

As a result, the protesters managed to seize the building, ramming its gates with a truck.

In addition, the opposition went to the building of the State Committee for National Security, where it demanded the release of ex-President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.

This ultimatum was fulfilled.

Also at large were former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, ex-head of the presidential administration Farid Niyazov, who were serving a sentence on corruption articles, and a number of former parliament members, in particular Sadyr Japarov, who has been serving time in a colony since 2017 for taking hostage a plenipotentiary. government of Emilbek Kaptagaev during a protest in 2013.

On the same day, the Central Election Commission of the republic annulled the results of the October 5 vote.

This information was confirmed by the head of the CEC Gulnara Dzhurabaeva.

She added that the CEC also discussed the issue of self-dissolution.

Against the backdrop of mass protests, Parliament Speaker Dastan Dzhumabekov resigned, as well as the country's Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov.

At the same time, the Jogorku Kenesh nominated Sadyr Japarov for the post of head of government.

Now the politician must propose his own cabinet, after which his candidacy can be approved by the parliament.

Also, the parties participating in the elections announced on Tuesday the formation of the People's Coordination Council.

The decision is explained by the need to "restore social and political stability in the country as soon as possible" and return to the legal field.

The council said in a statement that it is open to new parties and movements to join.

It is noted that the structure includes former prime ministers Temir Sariev and Omurbek Babanov.

However, soon the opposition parties, among which were such organizations as "Meken Yntymagy" ("National Solidarity"), "Reforms", "Ordo" ("Center") and "Yiman Nuru" ("Fire of Faith"), announced the creation the new Coordination Council.

The politicians said they would not recognize Sadyr Japarov's candidacy for the post of prime minister and would nominate a new candidate.

“We previously met with Sadyr Zhaparov and Kamchybek Tashiev (ex-deputy of parliament. -

).

They also signed a statement on the establishment of the People's Coordination Council.

But then Sadyr Zhaparov went to the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the sixth convocation to approve his candidacy.

We told him that it was necessary to consult with us first.

We do not recognize the premiership of Sadyr Japarov, ”said the leader of the Chon Kazat party, a member of the new council, Maksat Mamytkanov.

Note that the change of power as a result of opposition protests is not uncommon for Kyrgyzstan.

So, in 2005, the so-called "tulip revolution" took place in the country, the result of which was the early resignation of the first president of the independent Kyrgyz Republic, Askar Akayev.

However, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who took the presidency following the results of the 2005 revolution, was dismissed in 2010.

He fled the republic with family members.

At home, criminal proceedings were opened against him.

Almazbek Atambayev won the early presidential elections then.

In 2017, the politician announced his voluntary resignation and transferred the affairs to his closest associate in the party, Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

The latter won the presidential elections following the resignation of Atambayev.

And in 2019, Atambayev was detained by law enforcement agencies on charges of corruption and other crimes.

In June 2020, the ex-president was sentenced to 11 years in prison and two months in prison.

According to experts, the reason for such frequent coups in Kyrgyzstan was the geographic and political specifics of the republic.

According to Alexander Knyazev, Kyrgyz society is distinguished by a rather pronounced opposition between clans and clans, especially between the north and south.

“In fact, the current protest is an attempt by the northern Kyrgyz political elite to take revenge by force.

But such events lead to further undermining of statehood.

And the young people who today take part in these protests grew up in such conditions when state institutions, laws did not work and there was total irresponsibility.

Power coups have already become a traditional form of power change in the country, ”the expert emphasized.

At the same time, these events will not affect the Kyrgyz-Russian relations, since the majority of political parties in Kyrgyzstan are committed to bilateral relations with Russia and membership in the EAEU, Knyazev said.

Ajar Kurtov adheres to a similar point of view.

In his opinion, recent events may negatively affect the internal political life of Kyrgyzstan, but will not affect its foreign course.

"These protests will intensify the internal confrontation between the clans and will not contribute to solving the acute problems facing the republic in the political and economic spheres," the expert said.

According to the expert, among the political movements in Kyrgyzstan there is a small layer of forces that receive support from the West and oppose the country's rapprochement with the EAEU and Russia.

“Their coming to power could damage the Kyrgyz-Russian relations, but so far there is no reason to believe that this will happen.

In general, we can say that the cause of a series of political crises in Kyrgyzstan was the pseudo-democratic order, which did not lead to the formation of a stable society, ”the expert summed up.
