New Zealand can be proud of having once again won the battle against the coronavirus.

The archipelago of 5 million inhabitants has once again been effective in the face of this pandemic, while just two months ago, in August, a focus of infection was discovered in the city of Auckland.

Contaminations that had no connection with returns of New Zealand nationals from abroad, but were the result of a

new wave

of uncontrolled contamination in the community.

A second lockdown was then put in place in the city of Auckland until early September, and a return to social distancing in the rest of the country.

But for almost two weeks, there have been no new cases in Auckland and New Zealand has not recorded any new uncontrolled positive cases for almost a month.

Only about twenty deaths in total

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also congratulated New Zealanders for respecting the plan put in place, which "

worked a second time,

 " she said on Monday.

New Zealand remains a country little affected by this pandemic with only 25 deaths and less than 1,900 related cases of Covid-19.

A success that is in any case timely for the Prime Minister, since

New Zealanders

are called to vote in national elections on October 17.
