A "technical working committee" on Covid-19 and not a "scientific council".

In the aftermath of Samia Ghali's remarks, the Marseille town hall clarified the creation of this "central platform to collect all the information" on the virus.

"Without any logic of war with Paris," said Michèle Rubirola.

The mayor of Marseille, Michèle Rubirola, is working on the creation of a "technical working commission" on the Covid-19 and not of a "scientific council", without logic of "war" with Paris, have we learned Tuesday in his entourage, the day after controversial statements by Samia Ghali.

"This is not a scientific council, and it is not a Marseille / Paris war", the same source insisted.

"What Michèle Rubirola has in mind, and she has been talking about it for a long time, is a technical working committee to create a central platform to collect all the information on the Covid", we added.

A proposal from Samia Ghali

Monday, during a municipal council whose mayor, still recovering after an operation, was absent, Samia Ghali, assistant to the town hall in particular in charge of the equality of the territories, had proposed the creation of a "scientific council of the city of Marseille ".

According to the chosen one?

"See what are the shortcomings and that we have a vision, and that we no longer depend on certain Parisian scientists, but that we are also ourselves able to say what is going and what is not, in order to no longer suffer the lightning of Paris ".

As a backdrop, the controversy aroused by the government's decision to completely close for 15 days the bars and restaurants in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.

The restaurants were finally able to reopen Monday after a week.

Local and professional elected officials unanimously denounced a decision imposed without consultation, and, according to them, without solid justification.

"The idea is to create a technical commission in connection with the prefecture in particular", we insisted Tuesday in the entourage of Michèle Rubirola, "we do not want a scientific war between Marseille and Paris".

"The mayor is keen to speak out for herself on issues relating to the health of the people of Marseilles," it was stressed.
