06 October 2020There is hope that an effective vaccine against Covid-19 will be ready by the end of this year: the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, as reported by the BBC.
At the end of the two days that saw the WHO executive board met, Ghebreyesus stressed that the world must use "all the tools in its possession" to put an end to the pandemic and among these there are also vaccines. "There is hope that by the end of this year we can have a vaccine", said the WHO number one.
There are currently forty vaccines in clinical trials, including the one developed by the University of Oxford, which is already in an advanced test phase. However, Ghebreyesus did not give details on which of the vaccines could be available by 2020.
