The telephone number that was intercepted had been taken over by a person other than the suspect, which the police discovered and would therefore end the interception.

But then the investigators reacted to a strange conversation.

A person called and told the person who now had the phone number about the search in the belief that it was the suspect who answered.

When the investigators checked the number, they discovered that it was a police officer who called - who is now being prosecuted for breach of confidentiality or misconduct.

The police who called the man did not work in the investigation of the murder that occurred on Hålsjögatan in Malmö in the summer of 2019.

Denies crime

"Informing the person that the police are interested in him is completely incorrect and information that must be kept within the preliminary investigation.

The choice to tell a person that the police are interested in the person in question is decided by those who work in the case ", says the head of the Malmö Police Investigation Section serious crimes in an interrogation.

The accused police deny the crime and say that some boss probably gave the order to contact the wanted man to get him to surrender, and that the purpose was never to break the duty of confidentiality as it was already known that the man was wanted.

But the police cannot remember which manager gave the assignment.
