Mohammed bin Zayed mourns "Bakhit bin Suwaidan" who first raised the state flag in 1971

Mourning His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

The Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the retired Brigadier General, Bakhit bin Suwaidan Al-Nuaimi, was the first to raise the state flag on Al-Manhal Palace in 1971, and who passed away yesterday at dawn, in the city of Al Ain.

His Highness said in a tweet on Twitter: "May God have mercy on Bakhit bin Suwaidan Al-Nuaimi, one of the loyal men of the homeland, who devoted his life from the beginnings of the Union to serving the nation with sincerity, uplifting and elevating it.

The deceased had a distinguished march, militarily and socially, as he remained a pioneer in the councils of the founding father Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, and he also raised the state’s first flag at Al Manhal Palace upon its accession to the United Nations on December 9, 1971.
