03 October 2020 According to forecasts, the tide has risen to 135 cm but for the first time in an emergency phase the mobile dams of the Mose are raised.

And the sea is blocked.

From 7.30 and until 15 an ordinance of the Harbor Master's Office forbade the navigation to the three inlets.

The 78 barriers have emerged from the water and are all raised.

They rose in an hour and 17 minutes.

"We are sorry that other parts of Italy are plagued by bad weather, let's console ourselves with Venice, since at sea we have reached 129 centimeters and in the city at 73": this is how the Superintendent for public works of the Triveneto Cinzia Zincone, comments on the performance of the gates .

"The test went well - he adds - we are collecting all the data, more than expected, for the development of the system".

The tide remained stable at 70 centimeters at Punta della Salute, even at the time of its hypothesized peak, the 135 centimeters predicted by the Venice Tide Center at 12.05.

At 10 o'clock 119 centimeters were measured at the South Dam of the Lido, in Punta Salute, where the 'mid-sea' 69 was recorded. 74 of 9.20, up to 77 of 9.40, then starting to decline and stabilize around 70 centimeters.

Piazza San Marco has remained dry: the entry into operation of the Mose has allowed for now the 'good living room' of Venice to avoid the phenomenon of high water
