Following the news that US President Donald Trump had tested positive for covid-19, he was taken to a military hospital in Maryland.

According to the White House, this is a precautionary measure and it has been assured that Trump will show mild symptoms.

On Saturday, the medical team held a press conference outside the hospital where they told that Donald Trump is well and that the prognosis looks good.

Trump is being treated with the drug Remdesivir and a synthetic antibody treatment, a cure that is still undergoing clinical trials and has not yet been approved by the authorities.

- They make it very clear that the president is well, that he does not have a fever or breathing problems and that he is not allowed to have oxygen now in any case, but they do not want to say if he has had it before.

But the situation is confused, because there is now information from an anonymous source in the White House that the last 24 hours have been worrying and that the next 48 hours are crucial for the president's health, says SVT's correspondent Stefan Åsberg.
