15 civilians were killed and more than 40 were wounded, most of them students, in the preliminary outcome of a suicide bombing in front of Shinwari district in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, according to government sources.
Al-Jazeera correspondent from Kabul, Amr Halabi, said that a suicide bomber carried out a car bomb attack targeting one of the districts of Nangarhar close to the Pakistani border, and then an attack was followed by two militants who are still clashing with the Afghan government forces.
The explosion occurred near a hospital and a school, making most of the victims students, and the injuries were serious, according to medical sources.
This operation comes 3 days after another bombing in central Afghanistan, which also caused deaths and injuries.
The state of Nangarhar, where the bombing took place, is covered by a ceasefire between the Taliban and the United States, according to the ongoing negotiations in Doha.
The Afghan government demands the negotiators in Doha for a comprehensive ceasefire to spare the country chaos and more casualties.
