"I'm stuck here", testifies at the microphone of Europe 1 an inhabitant of Vésubie who is waiting to be able to return home.

After the severe bad weather which left several people missing during the night from Friday to Saturday, many of them are immobilized on the roads and still do not know if their house has survived the torrents.

REPORTAGE

Floods, landslides and missing people ... After torrential rains on Friday evening and overnight in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Nice hinterland is already seeing significant damage and mayors and deputies are worried about significant human losses.

At the Plan du Var, at the entrance to the Vésubie valley, affected by flooding, residents blocked by roadblocks are wondering about Europe 1 in what state they will find their home.

The "galley" of waiting

Some like David do not know when they will be able to return home: many roads are still cut, several motorists like him are waiting on the side.

"Since last night I have been stuck here. A rock has fallen, the road is blocked, we don't know how long there will be so we take our trouble patiently. The important thing is that everyone goes well, the rest is just material, "he tempers.

"I could not go home. I do not know if I have damage or not", worries for his part Frédéric.

"Apparently there is damage, but at home I do not know how I live alone. I do not know so I wait to go home, it's a hassle…"

Significant damage

Some are already fixed: Jonathan has learned of the flooding from the bottom of his house, he is waiting to be able to go up to his house with a small construction machine that he is towing.

"I go up with the mechanical shovel to dig around the house so that the water does not seep in and drain out," he explains.

Roadblocks are starting to be lifted but access to the valleys remains very complicated.
