“Dmitry Zakharchenko said that he had already been transported twice from pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service to the transit prison in Mordovia, in Potma, because he cannot be kept in the isolation ward for more than three months without a court order on his arrest.

And the court does not accept such a decision, since the ex-colonel has already been sentenced to a real term of imprisonment on previously charged charges.

As a result, he has to "travel" - said the member of the commission.

According to Zakharchenko, during the transfer he is accompanied by a reinforced convoy with two guard dogs, while the handcuffs are fastened behind his back.

“The FSIN officers have to carry the bags with my belongings.

In the car, I am in a separate compartment, because I was registered as prone to escape, "a member of the POC quoted Zakharchenko as saying.

In the second decade of October, Zakharchenko says, he may again be sent to a transit prison in Mordovia, from where he will then return to the Moscow SIZO to continue familiarizing himself with his second criminal case.

Zakharchenko also complained to the POC that he was being held alone in his cell: he had no one to talk to and play chess with.

The administration of the detention center explained to the POC that, in accordance with the law, only former law enforcement officers who have already been convicted can be inmates of Zakharchenko, and there are currently no such prisoners in the detention facility.

In addition, the former police officer again complained to the POC that he has been denied a laparoscopic operation since March.

According to human rights activists, on September 28, doctors at the Matrosskaya Tishina hospital confirmed the need for an operation.

“But the prison hospital cannot carry it out - there is no equipment or specialists.

SIZO doctors refuse to send Zakharchenko to a civil hospital, despite the willingness of relatives to pay for this operation, "the interlocutor of RT concluded.

In the fall of 2019, the Moscow City Court reduced the 13-year term assigned to Dmitry Zakharchenko to 12.5 years.

Later, the Investigative Committee filed a new charge against Zakharchenko for two episodes of bribe-taking totaling more than 1.5 billion rubles.
