Five weeks before the US presidential election, outgoing President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden clashed for the first time on Tuesday evening in a chaotic televised debate, punctuated by insults and personal attacks.
For 90 minutes, the substantive debates were eclipsed, giving way to a confusing cacophony.

Sadly, many experts have qualified this face-to-face meeting as "the worst debate in American history".
A feeling shared by many American voters who will however have to vote on November 3 to elect their next president.
Above all, this first more than muscular debate announces the color of the coming weeks of the campaign, believe the cartoonists of Cartooning for Peace.
A question then remains: could the exchanges turn out to be even more virulent during the next televised face-to-face?

For now, the commission responsible for organizing the electoral debates in the United States has already announced the implementation of measures to ensure "a more framed discussion" between the two candidates.
Born in 1958, Gérald Herrmann studied literature before learning to draw press cartoons.
He began his career as a designer in 1987 at the Courrier de Genève before joining the editorial offices of La Liberté de Friborg, L''Hebdo and la Sonntagszeitung.
Herrmann is currently drawing for the Tribune de Genève and is also the author of five albums.
Cartooning for Peace is an international network of cartoonists committed to promoting, through the universality of press cartoons, freedom of expression, human rights and mutual respect between populations of different cultures or beliefs.
